Where's Tom?
Today I found a two dollar bill in my wallet--must have been from something I bought on Saturday.

I love $2 bills.
If you want some fun, get some $2 bills, some dollar coins, some Kennedy 1/2-dollars and use them to pay for lunch at your favorite, giant, fast-food chain.

Try using a Susan B. Anthony (not one of the recent dollar coins) at the Dulles Toll Road. It worked, though the toll booth worker said, "This is a dollar?" while accepting it.

The last time I got two dollar bills was in change at the San Diego Zoo. $16 dollar admission, give them a twenty and you get two two dollar bills back. (This was some time ago. Admission is now $35.)
I've always wondered if the zoo was trying to get the locals to be nice to the Zonies (Tourists from Arizona) by making the point that they spend a lot of money there.

The US must be one of the few countries where a 20 is the major denomination. In most countries it would be the 10 or 100. (One exception : In Nigeria which refuses to issue higher denomination despite the drop in its Naira , it is the 50) . In most countries a 2 unit currency note would be taken in stride. More $2 bills in circulation would reduce currency printing costs.
Are we odd ?

When the Susan B Anthony coins first came out, I worked for months to introduce them into the local (Atlanta) economy. Each payday, I bought a roll of Susans and dutifully forced them on the fast food industry. Alas, all to no avail. I gave up when I found I no longer enjoyed educating the terminally slow.

the hubbub around the SBA dollar was what threw the 1980 presidential election in reagan's favor.
we won't see currency denomination reform in this country again.

I wish that we wouldn't emblazon worshipful images of past Presidents, or any politicians, upon our money.
I also wish that individual dollars and cents didn't have so little individual value that one can readily find oneself with a messy pile of small bills and useless coins. It might suppress the use of those obnoxious prices that end in 9.
I like the dollar coins, but I'ven't seen a Sacajawea dollar coin in years and I've never seen any of the new presidential series.

I live in Canada, though I am American. Here they have 1 & 2 dollar coins, no one dollar bill, and a dearth of tens. If I give a 20 to the cashier, and say the cost is 3.45. I will get back 3 fives, a loonie and 55 cents. It drives me insane because I feel like I am not getting the right change back.

Alex, did you buy a ticket to Monticello on Saturday?

I'm pretty sure it was Carter who "threw the 1980 presidential election in reagan's favor."
