Here is the website for my new book, CreateYourOwnEconomy.org.  If a few of you would take a look and click on it, that would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Site looks nice, Tyler. Just in case you think it is enabled, the comments function doesn't work.

"sending cell phone texts can actually open emotional doors"

i get what you are trying to say, but this sounds awkward to me. is it even correct to say "cell phone texts" as opposed to "text messages"? and "emotional doors" is awkward.

Looks good on Firefox for Mac.

I would go with a light grey background on the sideboard and around the book jacket.

I would make a few bullet points about topics covered in the copy.

I would start with a short quote from the book that makes you pause and think.

Or try the following

Can twitter make your heart flutter?

Is your new best friend living on a cloud in cyberspace?

Can harnessing personal technology make you smarter, more interesting, richer, improve your love life, and make you thinner?

The copy could be better.

Correction

Is your new best friend living in a cloud?

The "Buy Create Your Own Economy" link on the right side takes you to a "Get Glue" "Widget Install" page. I think you only want to expose the widget itself (right below that), which seems to do the right thing.

Oh Oh Oh BTW

You might want to rethink using the photo from the DMV

Visited. Where did you want us to click? I clicked on comments, but as reported....

why is it an .org?

After reading reviews of both, I plan on buying the book but not visiting the site.

I would expect to see an excerpt or two on a book site. (And I would love it if more book sites included the book's index, but having just the TOC is good.) You might also have a section for book-related events and your speaking appearances (separate from "Media"). The giant image of the book cover being a clickable link to the very same image seems silly. I like the feeds on the sidebar.

(Oh, and I like it visually, but I have all the visual sensibilities of boiled cabbage.)

I especially like the cryptic box in the top right corner saying "To search, type and hi" :-)
Vista/Google Chrome

Will there be more content? Book excerpts etc.

Could a few of you click on it and take a look because that would be much appreciated.

This constant pushing of your book really seems to work. I am almost at the point of ordering it. Maybe...ah..whatever I am curios anyway....lets go to amazon...:-)

Design quibble: the image of the book cover really shouldn't link to itself. Bad!

"behavioral economist Tyler Cowen"? Is that what you're calling yourself these days?

Stretches way too wide in ff3.5 ... unless you want it to.

Posted by: yc at Jul 18, 2009 1:34:52 PM

Looks good in Firefox 3.5 to me, 1680 wide. Clean look.

But on about the author.. after "economist," "blogger," and "writer," is "avid music fan" really the most defining aspect of Tyler Cowen?

I. It is a little awkward due to the unconventional format. Generally the banner is on top and the tabs are underneath. So from top to bottom it should go,

1. Title- Create Your Own Economy
2. Content tabs- Home, About the author, etc
3. Home page content- writing, pics etc.

II. When you click on "Buy Create Your Own Economy" it goes to the widget install, not a place to buy the book.

III. I also think the book image could be smaller, but that's just personal preference.

Also,

Inside the search bar it appears to me as, "To search, type and hi".

(I'm in ff3.5)
