Kauffman survey of economic bloggers

Lots of data about what we think and do.  Many of us started blogging in 2003, which to me suggests people are either natural bloggers or not.  Many of us think that "fix banks" should be Obama's top priority and many of us see health insurance issues as hindering innovation.

By "health insurance issues" do you mean concerns about its availability?

If so, does that mean support for some type of universal healthcare?

"This paper reports the results of a survey of individuals who were invited to
attend the Kauffman Foundation’s first-ever conference for economics bloggers"

i smell selection bias. and lots of it.

a question is why do you think that 'fix banks' should be the top priority?
do you think that banks are the economy?

They report 8 in the "no blog" category of economic bloggers. Geniuses. I AGREE!

Or that incentives have changed - for example, if path dependencies have raised barriers to entry.

Yeah, nobody asked me to the conference. Maybe it's because I think that the same entity which is already responsible for banks is NOT the correct institution to be fixing them. Basically, the government already controls the banks; if the banks aren't working, then perhaps the problem IS the government?

And yeah, our system of health insurance is screwed up, but 90% of the screwage is caused by the government's tax policy. This will only start to become better when it's cheaper for businesses to give their health insurance payments directly to the employee. Even then, it will take 20 years to restructure the health industry so that most people pay their doctors in cash on the spot for most things.

And yeah, that means massive unemployment in Hartford Connecticut. Too bad. Get a productive job.

Maybe it has to do with some big book that Malcolm Gladwell is selling right now, like "Outliers"?

maybe blogging was a craze that caught on in 2003

Economists also seem to be gaming their own SSRN papers: http://economics.com.au/?p=3082
