I'm sorry, I got this all typed before Alex managed to close the comments thread following his post.
Blogs really ought to adopt Slashdot's rating system. The rating and filtering makes the comment threads so much better. And it gives everyone positive feedback for comments that deserve it and gives them an incentive to make it even better. Plus it feels good to be able to thumbs-up a comment that you really like. Do a bleg and see if someone will add a Slashdot-like system in for you!
