Book Forum continues, Megan McArdle on CEO pay

I posted the following over at Megan's site but looking at the comments i think my inquiry is unlikely to bear any results, thus i hope somebody from MR will be able to oblige:
"When American companies take over companies abroad, suddenly their IT operation seems to improve dramatically. These differences may go a long way towards explaining the growth differentials between the two regions."
This is a very interesting theory, are there any articles or studies that have looked into this?
MR commenters are better, without a doubt.

Richard, there is an NBER working paper on this topic, from maybe about a year ago, I believe Austan Goolsbee wrote it up for The New York Times.
