This Choir Does The Preaching!
let's privatize, choice is the way
let corporations run our schools
let the free market make the rules
As sung by the Milton Friedman choir!
Hat tip to Mark Perry at Carpe Diem.

That's from The Corporation, a documentary put out a few years ago, in case anyone was interested.

And of course it was meant mockingly.
Pretty entertaining flick with a cute gimmick. As it proceeds, various ascribed traits of corporations are noted (checked off on a pad) until a final diagnosis is rendered: pyschopath.

Lol I remember watching that documentary. I thought it was hilarious. I love watching left wing people talk about capitalism, corporations, and trade. All the draconian rhetoric about evil, greed, and corruption gets to a point where it is so common place that it becomes humorously absurd.

Yeah, that "documentary" was about as intellectually honest as kindergarten kids fighting about the crayons.
Posted by: Erik at Nov 21, 2007 9:29:27 AM
There is nothing particularly dishonest about children fighting over crayons.

George Bush will set privitization back about 100 years.
A few more stories of wounded troops being neglected by Bush's
hacks should do great damage to privitization.

The public school monopoly is the last of the great monopolies. It will take many years of struggle to defeat it. It is cheating children out of a good education and robbing the taxpayer blind. Public school is the last great Soviet-style bureaucracy in capitalist counties. The US and one or two other countries are the only ones who say you can't support private schools on religious grounds. There is an unholy alliance between public schools and politicians. It is a huge patronage source and feeds the bureaucracy of many political supporters. The needs of the bureaucrats, politicians, union bosses, and patronage workers come before the needs of the students. There is a revolution going on in New Orleans under Paul Vallas. Hope he wins. Vouchers are the way to go. Vouchers are to liberals what wooden stakes are to vampires.

jorod: The foundations of public schooling have holes in them. They're the millions of children who are home-schooled. If you don't want your child to be cheated out of a good education, then don't send them to public school.

vouchers would cost an estimated extra of 75 billion dollars plus there is no evidence that comparable students differ in achievement between public and private schools
