China Fact of the Day

Ah, this is good to see.  China's "communist" rulers oppose price controls.

Ha, good one! On a similar note, the manufacturing guys at Evolving Excellence have been analyzing a bunch of posts by Bunnie Huang on Chinese factories. Some pretty wild stuff, including how one monster factory needs 3,000 pigs a DAY to feed its workers.

Rather than admit China's commie economy is kickin' America's capitalist economy's butt...just label the commies "capitalists?"

Dogma saved...

Authoritarian governments can work quite well but they are vulnerable.

a, Alex's post shows Chinese authorities rejecting price controls, and does not explicitly call them "capitalists". Perhaps a more relevant comparison than "communist" China and "capitalist" America would be Hong Kong (when it was under British authority) to other coastal Chinese cities.

Paul N: Vulnerable to what? Do you think Singapore and Dubai are headed for disaster or something?

a,

China GDP per capita (2006 from CIA world factbook)- $7,700

USA GDP per capita - $44,000

Not to mention that we're talking about peoples lives, not a game of soccer where one team "kicks" the others "butt".
