Barter works
Yes the guy has succeeded in trading his paper clip to get a house. That is, of course, a farmhouse in Saskatchewan. Here is background on his quest.

It seems to me that the trader's accomplishment wasn't a function of what he traded (that is, it seems to me that all the trades along the way could've been purchased for less in cash). What Kyle really offered was the chance to be part of the story, and celebrity is a difficult commodity to purchase.
Does that seem right to anybody else?

Seems about right to me. Didn't Prof. Cowen write a book on the economics of celebrity or something like that?
