Maurice Allais is even smarter than you think

Remember Maurice Allais, one of the lesser-heralded Nobel Laureates? He is best known for his work on expected utility theory, more specifically the Allais Paradox. He also made significant though neglected contributions to macroeconomics, monetary theory, welfare economics, capital theory, and the economic history of civilizations.
